ACCIONA inaugurates the Bello WWTP in Medellín

  • The Bello Ptar in Medellin is the first wastewater treatment plant that ACCIONA builts in Colombia and has just been inaugurated with the presence of the Mayor of Medellin (Federico Gutiérrez), the President EPM - Empresas Públicas de Medellín, Jorge Londoño De the Cuesta; the director of Construction, Daniel Lezama, and the person in charge of construction of the plant, Francisco Flores.

The plant will initially benefit more than 3.8 million people and has a capacity of 432,000 m3 / day.

The goal is to achieve that the river exceeds the levels of dissolved oxygen that are accepted worldwide as indicators of decontaminated rivers, allowing the recovery of spaces on the banks that may be dedicated to recreation and urban and landscape developments.

In its facilities, it is expected to receive about 120 tons of organic matter daily from the wastewater produced by industry, commerce and housing.

ACCIONA will operate the plant for one year.
