First, it will take part in the 16th IWA Leading Edge Conference on Water and Wastewater Technologies (IWA LET 2019) to be held in Edinburgh from 10 to 14 June. At the same time, the company will be present in Water Innovation Europe 2019 (WIE 2019) event organized by the WssTP, to be held from 10 to 12 June, as well as the 12th IWA Water Reuse 2019) conference that will take place in Berlin.
While the IWA LET form has been designed as a focal point for the presentation and discussion of new developments such as how pioneering science, technological innovation and leading practices can shape the major transformation in water management, the IWA Water Reuse event focuses on the importance of the recovery and re-use of water as a key strategy in facing up to problems such as water stress. In addition, the Water-Energy link will once again feature in WIE 2019, an event where professionals from both sectors can learn more about aspects such as the interdependence between water and energy or how to create environments that promote cross-fertilization in the management of resources, among other things.
Within the technical programme of IWA LET, Olga Ferrer, Head of Desalination of the R&D+I Department of ACCIONA, will speak twice on 12 June. The first talk, at 09:30, is titled: “Assessment of Desalination Pilot Plant Reliability against Extreme Seawater Quality Events by means of Threshold Tests“, and at 12:30 will present a study titled “High Recovery Desalination System based on Brine Treatment by Previous Softening and Membrane Distillation Processes“.
For her part, Teresa de la Torre, Head of the Wastewater Treatment and Reuse section of the R&D+I Department of ACCIONA will also represent the company with two interventions in IWA Water Reuse. The first, on 17 June at 16:10, will be a talk titled “FO-NF treatment of municipal wastewater for customized agricultural reuse”, and at 09:30 the next day (18 June), she will moderate the session “Agricultural Reuse: Transfer of contaminants into irrigated crops”.
As for ACCIONA’s presence in WIE, Ana Jimenez Banzo, Head of the Innovation Management Area of the R&D+I Department will present the Integroil Project on 12 June at 17:00 titled “The INTEGROIL project and its outcomes: increasing water reuse at industry”. The main objective of this project is to encourage the re-use of wastewater from oil installations through the development of a technology that increases re-use by 50 % (the current level is usually below 15%). ACCIONA recently presented the results of Integroil, together with its partners in the project, in an event held Madrid.
