The water business of ACCIONA has more than 40 references in Italy, including drinking water and wastewater treatment plants. The company built, operates and maintains the Reggio Calabria desalination plant (17,600 m3/d), built drinking water treatment plants at Menta in Calabria (129,600 m3/d) and Pedra Majore, in Sardinia (60,000 m3/d); it is modernising the Anconella plant in Florence and building the Torpè plant in Sardinia (40,000 m3/d).
On the Pelagie Islands (Pantelleria, Linosa and Lampedusa), the company operates modular desalination plants under a 10-year drinking water supply contract. In the area of wastewater treatment, it manages sewers and monitors, operates and maintains the Abbanoa treatment plants and related sewers and pumping stations (400,000 m3/day).
It also operates the Cagliari waste water treatment plant in Sardinia. ACCIONA Agua built the Guidonia sewage treatment plant in Rome (serving 45,000 people), as well as other plants in Bari, Scicli , Nuoro and Bresso .
