Several ACCIONA Agua research and development projects have been selected by the European Comission to be part of LIFE programme. The programme is the main financial instrument of the EU in environmental projects.
OFREA is a project to reuse wastewater in coastal areas more efficiently.
LIFE-OFREA is a project supported and financed by the European Commission and is led by ACCIONA Agua and Esamur (Entidad de Saneamiento y Depuración de Aguas Residuales de la Región de Murcia).
The ACCIONA Agua R&D department is part of OFREA project in order to develop advanced desalination technologies in a effort to reduce the energy that would normally be required if conventional desalination techniques were uses, as well as to increase the percentage of wasterwater that can de reused and water quality in coastal areas.
The RENEWAT project aim is optimization for the energy saving at the wastewater treatment plants with the renewables energies integrated in the facility. It will reduce the WWTP consumption by 30%.
It will reduce the cost per cubic meter of treated water by 24%.
The project will take place is the Archena WWTP, Murcia. The technology will be applicable in most of the WWTP.
LIFE-BRAINYMEM® is a Project supported and financed by the European Commission to reduce the energy consumption in wastewater treatment plants and minimize its environmental impact. All of this throughout the Membrane Biological Reactor (MBR) technology for water reclamation.
ACCIONA Agua, will apply advanced system control to the wastewater plants to also reduce the greenhouse gases emission and the wastewater recalcitrant pollutants. The project will be replicated in every wastewater treatment plants. The project will be replicable in every wastewater plants.
